Entering Rome from the south-west, going through the large Viale Marconi and Viale Colombo, then crossing the famous quarter of Trastevere,

we reach the very cradle of Roman civilization. It all started here, in the Velabro (which means marsh). According to the legend, two new-born babies, suckled by a she-wolf, were found under a fig-tree: they were Romulus and his twin Remus. Romulus was to draw the furrow round the Palatine hill to found Rome .
